This second webinar in the series was led by SEA, building on their extensive work, supporting municipalities to adapt to a transforming electricity system, in concrete ways. SEA is the implementation partner for the SALGA-GIZ-DMRE SSEG Development Support Programme. As South African local governments navigate local sustainable energy transitions, the interconnections between electricity, fiscal management, and broader issues of governance present a complex set of issues. Municipal governments are being challenged to find solutions that support sustainable financial, service delivery and climate-resilient outcomes. This session addressed concerns about the impact of SSEG on municipal revenue generation, proposing sensible tariff-setting solutions to potential revenue erosion, as well as case studies with practical lessons for implementation.
